According to the artist: During the past year under pandemic restriction, I have observed the country roads whwere I live in the Rocky Mountain Foothills being mostly empty, where I am the sole figure out in the landscape. The new series BACK ROADS has come out of this, relating to my paintings from the 1980's where I depicted myself on dog walks out on these same roads. The isolation of the figure against the environment becomes physical, but also psuchological with enhanced colour saturation and indications of odd atmospheric conditions.
