Rocky Mountain Legends, all three, from vastly diffgerent backgrounds but with a common passion for the mountains. According to his biographer, Austrian climber Conrad Kain 'brought glamour and imagination into the sport of mountaineering as few guides have done before him.' Dr. Cora Best of Minneapolis was a woman far ahead of her time, as a physician, as a section head for the Alpine Club of Canada, and as a mountain climber. Her best friend, Audrey Shippam, was equally as passionate about mountaineering. Much has been written about the first ascents and other accomplishments of Kain and Best.

Donated by Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, see website at whyte.org
