Biographical Information
Nate Mcleod ~ [21st century] Canadian
Nate McLeod is an artist living and working in Calgary, Canada. His recent works draw upon tropes of classical painting "specifically still life" by combining collected images of objects (found in personal photographs; screenshots of social media posts; his own past works and the works of other artists; AI-generated imagery, etc.) into a unified whole through the use of various framing devices.
McLeod holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts and is represented by Herringer Kiss Gallery. His work is included in several private, public, and corporate collections including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Encana, and Royal Bank of Canada. He has curated several independent exhibitions, was the co-founder and Artistic Director of Avalanche! Institute of Contemporary Art, is a former Associate Curator at Contemporary Calgary, and is currently the Educational Art Technician in the Drawing & Painting departments at the Alberta University of the Arts.
