Sitting Eagle, also known as John Hunter, was the chief of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation of Alberta. He became very involved in the Calgary Stampede and some say, he was considered a symbol of the event. In 1988, an 11 foot tall bronze of Chief Sitting Eagle was unveiled in downtown Calgary, by artist Don Begg, where it still stands today; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Sitting_Eagle
