Biographical Information
Tori Foster ~ [b.1982] Canadian
Tori Foster is a new media artist seeking to extract the invisible from the visible. She works in the areas of emergent behaviour, neurodivergence, and quantum consciousness. Much of her work literally or metaphorically describes things we cannot see with the naked eye, but none-the-less can intuit or experience viscerally. Foster is currently an Assistant Professor in New Media at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has received dozens of grants and awards including two current grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council for the production of Conversations with Fate, a generative performance piece exploring the emergent behaviours of a herd of autonomous robots. Her work has been presented in 16 countries world-wide, including Germany, China, the UK, Australia, Brazil, and the USA, and is held in numerous private and corporate collections.
