Estimates
Everything we offer at auction has what we refer to as a 'pre-sale estimate'. These figures are based upon previous auctions results by the artist or something similar. This price range represents our opinion of the approximate sale price of any given lot. Pre-sale estimates are not appraised values. Please contact the office for more information on any particular lot. In no case does the reserve exceed the printed estimate.
Reserves
A reserve is the confidential minimum price agreed upon between the seller and the auction house, below which the artwork will not ordinarily be sold. In the online auction, the opening bid is the reserve price. If the opening bid is $1, then there is no reserve and$1 is the absolute minimum you can bid. The reserve will not exceed the low end of the estimate in all of our auctions.
Auction Close
Our online auctions do not close immediately at 3pm.
There is an automatic two-minute bidding extension at the close of all our online auctions. The system requires a full two minutes of NO bids in order to close an auction. If someone bids within the two-minute bidding extension, two minutes will be added onto the clock until the bidding is over on the entire auction.
It is normal for these extensions to continue to occur for over a half hour or more after an auction. It is a common practice for online auctions to employ a bidding extension to ensure fair bidding for all parties. Please take this into consideration when bidding.
In the past, we have had auctions close minutes after closing time, to up to two hours after closing time. We at LEVIS do not control the bidding clock and close of the auction, it is fully dictated by the action of the bidders.
Payment
Unless we hear from you promptly regarding an alternative payment method, the credit card you registered with will be processed on the Monday morning after an online auction closes. The total will included 17% Buyer's Premium and applicable GST/HST.
