Biographical Information
Roy Caussy ~ [b.1981] Canadian
Roy Caussy received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design [2006], and his MFA from the University of Lethbridge [2015]. Caussy’s interests can be described as an outcome of his experiences growing up as a first-generation Canadian. Having had studios in Hamilton, Vancouver, Medicine Hat, and Halifax, Caussy sees this rootlessness as the inheritance of his family’s immigrant and diasporic histories, while he allows the geography and history of each place he inhabits to inform his practice; Caussy’s practice is comprised of sculpture, drawing, audio and installation. Roy has been included in group exhibitions across North America, and has had solo exhibitions at Stride Gallery [2019], and the Art Gallery of Alberta [2020]. He also has a series of drawings travelling across Alberta until 2023, as part of the TREX Southeast programme. Roy Caussy currently resides in Halifax, NS, where he maintains his studio practice.
