Troy Nickle is a land artist, sculptor, printmaker, painter and photographer living on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Niitsitapi, (Blackfoot), Nakoda (Stoney), and Tsuut'ina First Nations. Nickle’s work encompasses a variety of ideas and processes that emerge from contemplations on nature, and natural phenomena. Through his practice, he seeks to bring nature to the forefront of our experiences and creates opportunities that allow us to look at the natural world in new and altered ways, finding harmony between the man-made and the natural, between culture and nature.
Nickle spends a lot of his time exploring the river valleys, mountains, and foothills of southern Alberta, an activity that allows him to intimately connect with his surroundings and influence the work he makes.
