Biographical Information
Philip Taaffe ~ [b.1955] American
Taaffe studied at the Cooper Union, NYC, receiving his BFA in 1977 and had his first solo exhibition in New York in 1982. The aesthetic influence of his travel throughout the Middle East, India, South America, and Morocco is evident in his works that are carried in numerous public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Whitney Museum of American Art; and the Reina Sofia, Madrid. In 2008 the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Germany organized a retrospective survey, The Life of Forms in Art: Paintings 1980-2008 with a publication by Hatje Cantz, which is one of many publications about the artist.
